PTA Overlaid Wear Resistant Products

Plasma Transferred Arc Welding (PTAW) Overlay of Tungsten Carbide on Mild/Alloy Steel

Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) Welding system is a precise, high energy, inert gas shielding process. Unlike some thermal spray processes, which have a mechanical bond, PTA technology produces a metallurgical “welded” bond that is particularly effective in protection against corrosion, erosion, and abrasion.


We work with composite material with tungsten carbide in nickel/cobalt based powders. Using automated manipulation to handle the parts, we are able to deal with complex shapes, with efficient productivity, high quality of deposits, and competitive costs. 


Our Tungsten Carbide Overlaid products deliver an outstanding wear resistance performance.  During ASTM G65  Dry Sand/Rubber Wheel Abrasion Test, the weight loss on our Tungsten Carbide Overlaid product is less than 0.05 grams. 


Typical application areas of our PTA technology are equipment for mining, crushing, rolling, valves and seats, power generation, cement production, and agricultural components.
